Too Many Comments

Too many comments

Guys…. he is obsessed with his Facebook fanpage. He really tries to answer all the comments but I think there will come a point where he just can’t. He is on it before he goes to bed at night and gets up earlier than me to go on it because he is excited to talk to people and to share his favourite music.

He has always been more social than me, he LOVES talking to people, but I do think he will have to slow up at some point. These days I can’t reply to all the comments on the blog, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter. I read every single one but if I replied to all my head might explode and I’d have no time to do anything else. I’m really sorry that I can’t always reply.

I think part of the reason why he loves having a fanpage is because he has realised that people actually like him and like talking to him. When the blog suddenly got a lot of attention and was on Naver and all that, although the online attention we got was positive, in our personal lives we got a lot of negativity, especially from some of my husband’s friends. I think it all came down to jealously but unfortunately it was expressed in ways that hurt my husband. A few friends in particular were very clear that they believed this success was only because of me, and that my husband was just lucky that he married me and they resented him for getting popular from doing nothing.

The thing is… this blog is ABOUT my husband. If I wasn’t with him I would never have started it. He is my inspiration and my muse. He is the one still working while I blog, even though I don’t earn money yet. I can only do this because of him. Not only that, but it’s becoming a joint project now. My husband is the one who will be doing the editing of videos for our YouTube channel and we have big plans for the future.

Anyway I just want to thank everyone for interacting with him because it makes him excited and happy and makes him feel a part of all this now.

Naughty Boy

Naughty Boy

Naughty boy! He loves meat too much. One day when my Korean is good enough and I can communicate directly with his parents it’s all going to change!

Seriously though, we do worry about his parents working on the farm as they get older. We wish we could help them so they don’t have to work any more but we just aren’t in a position to do that yet.

His parents are really excited to see us again, especially because his sister is now in Australia too, so they are all alone on the farm. Apparently every day they mark off another day on the calender as they count down to when we are going there. They want to pick more strawberries so they have more money to buy us good food, and especially lots of good meat.

Usually my husband worries a lot about his parents but this time all he is thinking about is meat!

Facebook Fan Page

Facebook Fan Page

He is really enjoying having his own fan page. Before I was just the only one interacting with readers of the blog but now he can and he loves socialising. He likes talking to people and sharing music that he likes.

But… he is usually sitting there in his underwear when talking to you guys.

You can see his Facebook page HERE.

I know

how much

Well no one likes to see vomit… but he really hates it. Usually when he sees vomit he gags and is like, “ahhhhhhhh!!!” If we are in the city at night and someone has puked on the street, I’ll tell him to close his eyes and guide him away so he doesn’t have to see it. So I really appreciate how much he takes care of me when I’m sick and doesn’t even flinch when I’m hurling my guts up.

One of the moments when I knew he loved me early on in our relationship was when I had really bad food poisoning. It was a war zone in the bathroom… you know how it is with food poisoning… but he came in and cleaned me up AND cleaned the bathroom.

I’m so happy that I’m well again. I was pretty sick for a while and I don’t know what I would have done without him. I didn’t realise how worried he was until now. I’ve run into a few of his friends while out and about and they all told me how worried and stressed out he was about me. He was very calm with me but freaking out to his friends on Kakao Talk I think.

I love Korean Dramas but…

Korean Dramas

I finished a drama the other day and yet again was disappointed with the ending. Why aren’t things properly resolved??? I think it’s no surprise that my favourite dramas are usually the ones that resolve everything at the end and tie up all the loose threads. Too many just don’t though. There may literally be 5 hours footage of the guy and girl staring at each other in the drama, but apparently there is not enough time to resolve everything?

If you haven’t watched a Korean drama before, please don’t think they are so bad. They aren’t all like that. There are some really great ones and there are lots of good points about them, just too many end in a really an unsatisfying way. (I put this comic up on Tumblr first and saw some interesting theories about Korean dramas being allegories for Korea and the hardships Korea has faced).

Also, unlike TV dramas in Western countries, Korean dramas tend to be about 20 (long) episodes and then just finishes forever, unlike ongoing dramas in other countries that have many seasons, so the story and episode structure is very different in Korean dramas.

Saturday Night Live Korea

saturday night live korea

Okay to put this in context, South Korean TV is quite conservative so he likes Saturday Night Live Korea because it’s less conservative…. not because he likes lots of dirty jokes.

My husband is pretty used to Western humour and comedy that is a bit more risqué so he can find Korean TV shows a bit stifling sometimes.

Although Korean TV is conservative, Korean movies seems to be a different story though. The movie Sex is Zero seriously shocked me! Have you seen it? Many Korean movies are just in a whole different category…

As for TV, perhaps it’s changing now. I don’t think my husband wants really sexual or offensive things all over the TV, but I think he likes that comedians are given a bit more freedom on Saturday Night Live.

Hot Cross Buns

hot cross buns

Have you had hot cross buns before? Around Easter they are everywhere here. They are for Easter so obviously those that live somewhere that doesn’t celebrate Easter is unlikely to eat them…. but I think the also USA isn’t as big on them as much the UK and Australia is. According to Wikipedia Australia is one of the only countries to make chocolate hot cross buns ones as well as the normal ones.

My husband loves the chocolate ones. He saw them in the supermarket a month ago but I didn’t let him buy them because it was too early. He bought them yesterday and was pretty excited. The chocolate ones are nice but I think I prefer the original ones. I’ve also seen on some commercials there are sticky date ones available now, but I haven’t tried those ones yet.

We aren’t having an Easter dinner with my family this year unfortunately. Normally we all come together for the Easter weekend but my parents get back from Japan Saturday night and my husband is working over the weekend. We’ll have to do something just by ourselves on Sunday night I think… and give each other lots of chocolate eggs. Yay! Chocolate!
