In this video we get hanboks at a special event, we see friends and first snow of the season! Hugh had a lot more to say about the Dokkaebi drama but the camera battery ran out and we had to start that bit again and then he forgot to say what he wanted to. But we’ll talk about it again later!
It was very exciting for YouTubers to get proper hanboks (traditional Korean clothes) like this and to be acknowledged for promoting Korea to an international audience. Hugh was been quite passionate about having a good YouTube community in Korea and has been doing a lot of behind the scenes work to get stuff happening.
He likes the TV show “Luke Cage” but always calls it “Lucas Cage”.
There always comes a point in multicultural marriages where you get scolded for something your partner does constantly as well. I need to try harder to remember Korean names, but Hugh also thinks so many English names are interchangeable. Luckily he has never called me “Nicole” before…
Jokbal is something that sounds weird if you aren’t used to eating all sorts of animal parts, but it can be pretty delicious. This particular restaurant, Jokbal Gwishin in Mapo is amazing. We took Joel there when he was in Korea because he hadn’t had spicy jokbal before.

I wanted this story to have an unhappy ending because I do get frustrated with the story-lines of drama webtoons and Korean dramas on TV. When the handsome lead guy breaks up with the girl there is always some reason: he is trying to protect her, his mother forced him too, he thinks he doesn’t deserve her. It’s all nonsense and gives young girls unrealistic expectations about relationships when the reality is that people will break up with you and there is no hidden reason, they simply aren’t in love with you anymore. Story-lines in these romance webtoons and dramas also allow the guy to be quite harsh and abusive to the girl but in the end it’s all okay because he still loves her and was trying to “protect” her. His bad behaviour isn’t called into question at all. I want people to know that it’s not okay for someone to hurt you like that and there isn’t some hidden reason for why you should accept that type of behaviour. The good news is that even if the guy who you thought was the romantic hero in your life doesn’t want to be with you anymore, you will be okay and you will move on and you will meet someone better.
Sara joins us to try these more unusual chip flavours. We had never seen them before and we wonder how long they will last in stores…
A note about YouTube. Firstly there is a subscribers glitch. Lots and lots of active subscribers are being unsubscribed from channels so make sure you are still subscribed to us here.
Also, as well as having a bunch of glitches at the moment, YouTube is also favouring videos that have interaction immediately. We’ve hardly ever asked for likes on YouTube before but now it seems we have to. So if you watch our videos, hitting that like button (and also commenting) really helps us out and determins if YouTube will suggest our videos to other viewers. Thanks!
