Kicked Out

Kicked Out

Our internet is terrible, not only because Australian internet is no where near as good as Korea’s internet, but unfortunately the apartment we live in has such bad internet and it’s out of our control. We are just counting down until we can move. So yeah, I’m a blogger with bad internet!

When he plays this game he never chats to anyone else so the Korean guys playing it in Korea think he is a foreigner and call him “that Chinese guy”. They have no idea he is actually Korean and can read everything they are saying.

So because the internet is just so bad here sometimes he can’t keep up with the others and then can’t kill the monsters quick enough, so they kick him out. Awww.

North Korea Problem

North Attack

I had another blog post ready for today but decided to quickly make this comic and talk about this issue.

My husband had a hard time at work last night because of the North Korea issue. We are a bit annoyed when people don’t really know the difference between South Korea and North Korea, but when people don’t even know that there are two Koreas… it actually makes me a bit angry. North Korea has been in the news for years and years, you’d think at some point these dumb would have realised that. I feel really sorry for my husband that he has to deal with this ignorance. Over and over at work he had to explain the situation, people were asking him if he is from the North or South, people thought North Korea had already launched a rocket at the USA and it was on it’s way now or something. When he said we are still planning on going to South Korea people were telling us we were going to die….. yeah.

Anyway let’s talk about North Korea. The situation is very delicate at the moment and it is really worrying. Even though it’s suicide for North Korea if they attack, there is still that chance that they will do something stupid and some people will die.

I think they have already achieved their goals. The whole world is looking at them and is worried and scared, they have our attention. They are causing problems for South Korea’s economy and tourism and provoking the US military. They have also rallied their people with a common goal, so people will stop concentrating on the food shortage and focus on the “enemy”. They can now point out to their people, “Look at the American imperialists dogs and the South Korean puppets getting ready to attack us, just like we’ve told you all this time.” It’s all feeding into their propaganda machine.

The Western media has been irresponsible in reporting as well, but I suppose they usually are, the way they hype things up. It’s just dangerous when so many people know nothing about the North Korean situation. My husband got the full force of that at work last night. It’s not his job to educate people. We have so much information at our fingertips, it takes only a few seconds to realise there are two Koreas and that a rocket has not actually been launched at the US.

At the moment we are still going to South Korea in a few weeks. We will watch the situation and see what happens. The thing is, when North Korea actually does something to South Korea, there is usually no warning. They don’t talk the big talk like they are doing now, so I hope that is an indicator that they won’t do anything. We won’t be flying into Seoul either, we’ll be flying into Busan which is down the bottom of South Korea. All we can do is wait.

I’m sorry this is not a fun topic today.

Aww Nice Comments

Awww

Cheeky! And a hypocrite because he makes fun of me responding to comments and then the next moment is like, “I have to go talk to my fans!” and goes on his Facebook Page.

When I started my blog I never thought I’d get such lovely comments and that people would enjoy my blog so much, so I really really appreciate all your comments.

Seaweed Seaweed

Hey guys! No comic today! What? Noooooo!! BUT we have a video instead! This is just a quick one I filmed yesterday for you guys. My husband and a friend were editing another video so I took the opportunity to do something for you guys while they were working.

Obviously I don’t always talk in a stupid voice haha.

I actually got lots and lots of dried seaweed that should last me a while. Such a great present.

Ow My…

Ow my

Another word came after ‘my’ but I had to cut it. I do have to check with my husband sometimes if I can make a comic about certain things. There are times when he just says no. I do understand, my website is for a general audience and we can’t have anything too extreme. Also family members are reading as well.

But, sometimes he does or says very funny things but they are slightly inappropriate. I do sometimes envy cartoonists who make webcomics and can have sexual references without any problems. It’s not like I want to do anything extreme, just really normal stuff, but I do need to be concious of the audience. My husband quite frequently reminds me that I do have a big Korean audience and Korean culture is more conservative.

I can’t find it now but I saw a really great web comic the other week about a time travelling boy who goes back in time to when his parents are about to make love (and make him) but of course him being there is awkward and it’s not going to happen, so he starts to fade away. I thought it was brilliant and the sexual references used perfectly without offending. If anyone can find that one, let me know.

It is a cultural difference that comes up sometimes, the difference between Australian and Korean humour and what is appropriate or not. And also maybe my parents are reading. Stop reading Mum!

Easter Eggs

Easter Eggs

It didn’t feel like Easter this year. Usually we are both with my family and have a really nice weekend. On the Friday we usually have a nice seafood meal, my sister makes a great seafood paella, and on Sunday we have a roast dinner and lots of chocolate. I like hiding our Easter chocolate, it was fun when we were little kids and now as adults it just pisses us off when someone hides all the chocolate- which makes it funny.

Unfortunately we didn’t have our usual Easter as my parents only just came back from their trip to Japan and my husband was working. Since we still share an apartment we don’t really have the freedom to have a nice Easter dinner and besides from eating a lot of hot cross buns, we didn’t do much else. So it was nice when a friend gave us some chocolate eggs.
