Fan Mail

These drawings are from Patrycja who is from Poland but is living in France right now. She chats with my husband about cookies sometimes haha.

hehehe Thanks! This is true, he loves cookies so much.

He had a nice birthday, well birthdays…. the day before what I consider his birthday was his lunar calender birthday which is what many Koreans consider the real birthday.

Yay delicious dumplings! How exciting!

And this package is from CYah! She lives in Brunei, which is part of the island Borneo. I have been to Borneo, but the Indonesian part, when I did some volunteer work at a Sun Bear sanctuary there. I saw the proboscis monkeys there, which are so cool, so she has seen me a toy one. Proboscis monkeys are only found in Borneo. So cute!

Look at all the lovely things. Now I will have to visit Brunei! Thank you so much!

(That’s my husband’s Snoopy in the background).

Tea Ceremony

This was last year while in Korea.

I’ve mentioned before that I have trouble sitting on the floor (and squatting) as I’m just not used to it. BUT this woman complimented me on my sitting! We had told her that I was marrying a Korean man and that I really liked Korean culture. I tried really hard during the tea ceremony and sat in the traditional way she showed us. Everything was going well and she said I sat well and I was moving elegantly. I was so happy.

…But then my legs and feet started to hurt. I didn’t dare shift because then she would realise I was a fraud! We were sitting there for a while and the pain got worse and worse but I wanted to prove myself. By the time we left my legs hurt so much that I couldn’t walk properly for a few minutes. haha…

Cleaning

I asked what kind of ninja wears yellow rubber gloves and he said “A special ninja!”

Sunday was our cleaning day. We don’t have much space so it gets cluttered very quickly.

When we first moved in the bathroom was really dirty. I don’t think the previous people cleaned it at all, so we had to do a massive clean and remove all the mould. So gross. We make sure we keep it clean now. I’m not letting that mould come back.

We divide the cleaning up so we can get it done quickly and then go to our friend’s place and eat samgupsal! Yay!

Happy Birthday

So I was going to say something in the morning about my husband’s birthday but it’s past midnight now and he is demanding a birthday post haha. So I quickly did this.

He is 30 now…. well his international age is. His Korean age is 31. It was also his birthday yesterday… his birthday by the lunar calender. Things can get confusing!

And I made chocolate covered strawberries for him.

Sonic Screwdriver

You probably have to be a Doctor Who fan to understand this one. Or at least know there is a sonic screwdriver in the TV show. He really likes Doctor Who so I bought him a toy sonic screwdriver last year.

Might not have been the best idea because he can be really annoying with it!

Get Your Crayon

So I watched the preview before subtitles were added. Apparently he means “get your crazy on” or like “lets get crazy” and made a compound word. (Koreans love doing that).

HOWEVER, if someone is singing about a cylindrical object, I may just assume things… I’m not sad at the end of the comic because I want G-Dragon to be singing about something like that… just that I got a mini lecture about how things are in Korea again. Sometimes I still have trouble wrapping my mind around the extent of censorship.

That’s not to say that’s it’s good that so many western songs are so sexual or have thinly disguised sexual meaning, it’s just I’m surprised when Koreans, because of their culture, don’t see the same sexual innuendos.

So anyway, sorry G-Dragon.. haha.

P.S. I love you.
